Want to get the most out of each and every podcast appearance?

You can’t just rely on the listeners—you need to promote it on social media too. After all, the people who already know you are the ones who are most likely to become clients. That’s why it’s essential to share your episode with your existing audience.

In this post, we’ll tell you how to transform your podcast appearance into creative and engaging social media content in just seven steps.

How To Turn Your Podcast Into Engaging Social Media Content?

1. Define your strategy

The first step is simple.

Your strategy is to turn one podcast episode into an entire week’s worth of social media content. That means transforming less than one hour of audio into text, images, and videos that can be shared across all of your platforms.

Ready to find out how?

2. Find the best parts

This is the most time-consuming part of the process—but it’s worth it.

First, listen to the full podcast episode. When you hear something worth sharing (like a particularly insightful point, eloquent quote, or useful tip), write down the timestamp and a quick note to describe it.

Try to find at least 10 of these moments before moving on.

3. Choose a format

For each of the 10 points you listed, decide whether you’ll share it in text, image, or video format.

  • A text-only post might feature interesting data or a list explaining a topic you touched on in the interview.
  • An image could consist of a single stand-out sentence in the form of a quote graphic.
  • A video can be pretty much anything, but it’s best for sharing clips that show off your personality.

Pro tip: For video posts, make sure you write down both the start and end timestamps of the relevant section.

4. Create text posts

Let’s dive into the first format: text-only posts.

You can get super creative here, but we recommend this format:

  • Opening line: Capture the reader’s attention.
  • Context: Explain why this content is relevant to them.
  • Talking points: Tell them what they’ll learn by listening.
  • Call to action: Tell them how to listen to the episode.

5. Create images

Ideally, all the images you create will be saved so that you can reuse them in the future. We recommend using Canva for this purpose (it’s free!).

Here’s how to create a simple quote graphic:

  • Go to Canva.com.
  • Search for “quote social graphic.”
  • Pick a template or create your own.
  • Insert the quote.
  • Repeat!

This is super easy, and the result is a high-quality, professional-looking image that will add an extra pop to your profiles.

Pro tip: Use Grammarly to double check your quote before saving it.

6. Create videos

There are two types of video you can share: an actual video clip, if your interview included video, or an audio clip in video format.

The first is self-explanatory, and the second is easier than you might think. Here’s how to turn audio files into shareable video clips:

  • Go to Headliner.app and register for free.
  • Click “Audiogram Wizard.”
  • Upload your podcast episode.
  • Choose the start and end timestamps.
  • Include transcription.
  • Follow the steps to design and complete the post.

If you’re sharing only audio, try to keep it under one minute. And make sure you include a great hook, so that people have a reason to listen to the rest of the episode!

7. Plan and post

The final step is to publish your content and prioritize future posts.

Make sure you plan the date, time, content, and platform of each post in advance. And after you publish each post, record the number of likes, shares, comments, views, and other metrics.

This will tell you which format performs best on each platform… you’ll never know until you test it!

One last tip: Perfection is a myth. Instead of chasing it, just start posting—taking imperfect action is always better than taking no action at all.
