Guesting On Podcasts With No Social Media Presence

Key Takeaways

  • A big podcast with no social media presence still has the potential for word-of-mouth growth, despite not leveraging its online presence actively.
  • Small, niche podcasts with strong social media presence often drive growth through distribution of short content snippets to attract new listeners.
  • Utilizing content from smaller podcasts can be advantageous on platforms like LinkedIn, as it provides more control over the outcome and can generate a week's worth of content.

What podcast would you rather appear on? 👇

1. A big podcast with no social media presence
2. Or a small podcast with a solid social media presence

Surprisingly, there are huge shows with almost no presence on social media.

I find it impressive.

Their growth has been driven mostly through word-of-mouth and the listeners talking about them on social.

🤯

But what about the shows that are yet to build a big following?

Usually, these are more niched-down than the biggest shows out there.

Oftentimes, their hosts go above and beyond to distribute the episode online to attract new listeners.

I’m talking snippets, images, text posts, tweets, etc.

You might not reach as many loyal listeners but you’ll get tons of assets you can reuse on your social media.

And, frankly, consuming a shorter social media snippet is a “smaller ask” than tuning into a full 30-minute conversation.

🤔

If I’d have to choose, I’d pick the second one as the upside of leveraging content for my LinkedIn profile makes me more “in control” of the outcome.

One episode would easily be one week’s worth of content.

But that’s just me.

So… which one would YOU pick and why?

1. A big podcast with no social media presence
2. Or a small podcast with a solid social media presence
