Tara Vander Dussen
“People just want to know about the food they’re eating and its impact on the environment. ”

Tara Vander Dussen (better known online as the New Mexico Milkmaid), is a fifth generation dairy farmer, farm wife, environmental scientist, mom to two girls and a New Mexico Native.

Tara has spent the last 9 years working as an environmental scientist on dairy farm projects throughout the southwest. She assists her clients with state and federal regulatory compliance, water conservation, sustainable management practices, and quarterly monitoring reports. And, as a certified NRCS technical service provider, she is able to assist producers with nutrient and irrigation management.

She began sharing her story because she found that people often have several misconceptions about farmers and farming. Tara wanted to set the record straight about dairy farm life and on farm sustainability.
