Meet Lubo Smid. As the CEO & Co-Founder of STRV, he tells the story of building a $20M software design and engineering team, making the Forbes 30 under 30 list, and redefining what’s possible.
Lubo is a tech entrepreneur with a passion for cutting-edge technology, especially in web3, and an adventurous lifestyle.
He has co-founded STRV, a design and engineering company that built products for prominent startups like ClassDojo, The Athletic, or Citizen, and well-established brands like Microsoft or Barry’s.
Most of Lubo’s time is spent incubating new products under the STRV Labs brand. Lubo is a tech builder, which is very much reflected in his attitude and curiosity to constantly push for something new.
Lubo splits his time between Los Angeles and Prague. He actively produces podcasts, articles, and posts on social media to share insights from his journey. When he is not behind his laptop, you will likely find him out in the wild cycling, skiing, or doing some crazy adventure.

Lubo is a living example that you don’t have to go through many failures to find “the thing”. In high school, he started helping small companies as a freelance web developer. But that wasn’t enough. Lubo wanted more. Without experience, he moved to San Francisco to make a name for himself and started bootstrapping STRV – his first company.
12 years later, Lubo’s STRV is working with brands like Barry’s, Microsoft, ClassDojo, and The Athletic, employing over 200 talented people in the USA and the Czech Republic, making over $20M annually. The company won the Apple Design Award, Deloitte Fast 50, and Financial Times 1000.
On your podcast, he can talk about the ups and downs of this journey, how he stayed focused for more than a decade, and why he intentionally pushes himself outside his comfort zone.
Building an 8-figure company doesn’t happen by accident. It requires founders to be intentional not only about their business but also about their physical and mental health. Yet, so many entrepreneurs think that they can “hustle” their way to the top. As a result, they burn out and when they reach their goal, they feel empty anyway.
On your podcast, Lubo can share what he does to reach peak performance not only in work but in life as well. Specifically, how he prioritizes sleep, exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness while running a 200-person company. Your listeners will learn the specific steps they can take to grow their business by mastering other areas of their life.
Running a business is no joke. And although entrepreneurs have a higher stress threshold than other people, sometimes enough is enough. Sadly, this never-ending pressure and uncertainty can take its toll – from mild physical symptoms to serious mental health issues like anxiety. And almost no entrepreneur is talking about it.
On your podcast, Lubo will share what he’s done to overcome one of the most difficult periods in his business. Everything from handling the company during the pandemic, losing half of the clients overnight, managing the economic crisis, and many other challenges. But instead of jumping straight into the day-to-day, Lubo first checked his mindset to ensure he was in a good spot to make sound decisions. In this episode, your listeners will learn how it all turned up for him and STRV.
Cryptocurrency scams, FTX bankruptcy, extreme volatility… These are just a few of the things that give blockchain technology a bad reputation. But it’s undeniable that blockchain, as a technology, has a huge potential and entrepreneurs must start educating themselves on this topic. The ones who won’t sleep on this emerging trend will be the ones who will build the next big thing.
On your podcast, Lubo can share why he believes that Web 3.0 and Blockchain are the future. After building tech products for the last decade and this is — hands down — the best innovation he’s seen so far. As a founder of Enter, an NFT ticketing and token-gating solution built on blockchain, he can share the stories from the trenches, the challenges of market adoption, and why he’s not a huge fan of Metaverse.
