Fame Crew by country

Video and Photo Crews in the UAE

The short answer

Fame Crew provides vetted local videographers and photographers across the UAE, with location pages for Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Filming approvals differ by emirate. In Abu Dhabi, public filming needs content approval and a ground permit from the Creative Media Authority. Fame's production manager runs each shoot from brief to delivery.

Filming here: what to know

Booking a crew in the UAE

The UAE draws a steady flow of international business: conferences, regional offices, leadership visits and customer events. Many of the companies booking shoots are based elsewhere, so they need someone on the ground they can trust without flying in a team of their own.

Fame Crew fields a vetted videographer or photographer who already works locally. You see their portfolio and approve them before anything is confirmed, and a pre-shoot call introduces them properly. A named production manager then runs the job from brief to delivery, whether it is one interview in Dubai or coverage in both emirates. Prices are on our pricing page, and your quote is fixed before you commit.

Treat each emirate separately

A common mistake is to assume that a single set of rules applies across the country. Filming approvals are handled partly at emirate level, so a plan that works in one place may not transfer directly to another. Give us the exact location early on, including the venue and whether any filming will take place outdoors.

The practical split for most business shoots is between private and public places. A closed-door interview in your own office, or coverage inside a hotel or venue that has agreed to it, is a very different job from filming on a street, a beach or a landmark.

Abu Dhabi filming permits

The Abu Dhabi Film Commission's permits page sets out the process, which runs through the Creative Media Authority. In summary:

  • Content approval from the Creative Media Authority is needed as part of applying for ground, aerial and marine filming permits.
  • After content approval, a Ground Filming Permit is needed to film in public areas. It covers the specific public locations listed in your application.
  • Filming at a private location is arranged by agreeing terms with the owner and signing a location agreement for each location.
  • Aerial footage for TV, cinema or digital content first needs a No-Objection Certificate from the Creative Media Authority, and other approvals may be required from authorities and site owners.
  • The commission recommends hiring an Abu Dhabi-registered drone company for aerial filming.
  • A marine filming permit is needed for ocean or coastal filming for television, cinema and digital content.
  • Visiting media teams bringing cameras and film equipment in temporarily must obtain a Media Equipment Entry Permit.

Dubai and other emirates

This guide sets out Abu Dhabi's process only, because each emirate has its own arrangements. For Dubai or another emirate, check the current process with the local authority. Tell us where you plan to film in your brief, and raise the question of who holds which approval before the date is confirmed. Venues will often have their own conditions, so it is worth asking your event organiser or property manager too.

Drones

Drones need more planning than ground cameras. The UAE Drones platform, which carries GCAA branding, has separate sign-up routes for recreational users and for commercial or government users, and it offers flight approvals for missions in controlled airspace. Abu Dhabi also has the additional aerial filming requirements described above.

Fame's drone add-on uses a licensed operator and is always subject to local flight rules. Do not assume aerial shots are possible until they have been confirmed for your exact location and date. Build your shot list so that the film still works without them.

Planning around the local calendar

Outdoor shooting in the summer heat is hard on people and equipment, so aim for early mornings or indoor locations during the hottest months. Business hours can shorten during Ramadan, and it is respectful to plan shoots, meals and on-camera activity around it. Check the dates when choosing yours.

The UAE's media rules also include standards on content and on respecting privacy, so get consent from people who will be identifiable on camera and avoid filming strangers in public. Your own local counsel or PR adviser can advise on anything sensitive.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Abu Dhabi's official guidance treats private locations as a matter of agreement with the location owner. Rules can differ by emirate and by the purpose of the content, so check the details of your shoot before it is confirmed.
