Video and Photo Crews in Qatar

The short answer

Fame Crew provides vetted local videographers and photographers in Qatar, primarily around Doha, for conferences, interviews and corporate shoots. Check approvals early. Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority lists conditions for company drone operations, including Qatari registration and insurance, and event media permits issued through Hayya exclude drones and various restricted locations.

Filming here: what to know

Why local matters in Doha

Qatar's business activity is concentrated in and around Doha, so most corporate briefs here are about finding the right crew rather than a long trip. Common jobs include conference coverage, leadership interviews, infrastructure or energy content and corporate photography.

For a company flying in for a single event, it helps a lot to have someone who already knows the city, the traffic and how venues work. Fame Crew fields a vetted local videographer or photographer, and a production manager runs the job from brief to delivery. You approve the portfolio first, and a pre-shoot call introduces you properly. Local supply is smaller than in the largest global cities, so tell us your dates as early as you can.

What the Hayya media permit covers

If you are attending as accredited media through the Hayya Media Portal, the portal's FAQ says that a filming permit is generated automatically with your accreditation. It is shown by a camera icon on your card. Parts of that process depend on the event, including how long accreditation lasts, so it may not apply to an ordinary corporate shoot. Confirm the position for your shoot with the event's media team or with the portal.

According to the FAQ, the permit covers photography and filming in touristic locations and open spaces such as Souq Waqif and Katara. It lists these limits:

  • It excludes barracks, military bases, security or police buildings, chancelleries, borders, residential properties, private businesses and industrial zones.
  • It does not allow filming inside government, educational or health institutions, places of worship, or sites with no-photography signs.
  • Restricted areas need additional approval.
  • Drone cameras cannot be approved through the portal. For events, requests go through the event's media focal point to the Ministry of Interior.

Drone conditions

Qatar's Civil Aviation Authority publishes terms for unmanned aircraft operation on its website, along with an application for a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System operation. The listed conditions include:

  • A minimum operator age of 18.
  • A letter of authorisation showing the company's type of activity.
  • All necessary documentation, and companies must be registered in Qatar.
  • A maximum of five drones per entity.
  • No modifications or attachments to the drone.
  • An insurance policy provided before operation.

Drones in practice

This means a visiting team should not assume it can bring a drone and fly it. Mention aerial work when you first ask for a quote, and confirm with the authority that the conditions above are still current for your project. Fame's drone add-on is subject to local flight rules and a suitably licensed operator being available. Plan the film so that it still works if aerial footage is not possible on the day.

Offices, venues and private property

For corporate jobs, your first step is usually simple: get written permission from whoever controls the space. Office buildings, hotels and conference venues may have their own security rules and paperwork, including a need to see a Certificate of Insurance, which can be requested through us. Be clear on any other company's premises that you would like to film, since the Hayya FAQ makes clear that private businesses and industrial zones are outside its general permit.

Give us the address and access details in your brief, as well as the name of someone who can meet the crew. Allow extra time for security checks when filming at a large site.

Planning the shoot

Qatar's working week usually runs Sunday to Thursday, and our quote turnaround of about 2 hours applies Mon-Fri. Allow for that if you are planning from another region. Summer heat is a real factor for outdoor shoots, with early starts or indoor settings working best. Ramadan can affect business hours and how a day is scheduled.

Be careful when filming people in public. Get consent from anyone identifiable, and speak to your local team about what is appropriate on camera.

Prices and delivery

Prices are shown on the pricing page, and your quote is fixed before you commit. Edited assets can be delivered within 48 hours, with same-day social clips available on request for live events. Your crew can sign an NDA, and raw footage can be transferred through a secure link.

Rules change, so confirm them before you shoot. Sources:
