THE INSIGHT
Don’t be afraid to take responsibility | Felicjan Rybka, Maxima Consulting
What’s the one marketing trend that you wholeheartedly disagree with?
Today, everybody talks about communities.
All people say that you have to build the community, you got to get those people in. But
I don’t believe it really makes so much sense.
Because it takes a lot of work.
You have to know what to share with people, how to engage them, you have to read experience with that, to make it work. And at the same time, if all people build a community, like, which one will you join, you can choose one among hundreds or even 1000s.
And even when we look at all the communities that have been built in the past few months, most of them are already there. So do you want to be part of that community?
Or do you want to join one that’s existing already, and contribute to the conversation because it will have almost the same effect, as if you would build your own.
If you could talk to all B2B revenue leaders in the world for 1 minute, what would you say?
When it comes to marketing, everybody talks about revenue sales pipeline, you have to increase retention.
But the beauty of marketing, the thing that I love the most is that it doesn’t impact only sales.
It impacts all business areas.
So it impacts recruitment impacts, and account management, customer success, HR. It impacts the personal brands of people. And also it impacts how people view the company inside and outside.
When we look at marketing, from the broader perspective, if you increase the employee engagement, you will, in turn, also have more money, basically, because people will be more committed, you won’t have to spend money on recruitment.
If you focus on customer success, obviously, you will have lower churn, people will stay with your company for longer, and you will increase revenue, it all comes back to that.
But we should stop talking only about sales driving that pipeline, but look at the broader picture and see, where can you make a difference. Because if it gets, if you can change the company culture and make people more more committed, then in turn, you will drive the business forward.
What’s the most important character trait that helps you succeed in your career? Why?
It is responsibility.
So whenever I take on a task, whenever someone tells me that they need help or something, I take responsibility for the delivery.
So I will commit fully to create that value and to not let the person down.
So it helps me with building better relationships with people. And at the same time, it helps me grow my career because yeah, people trust me and in turn to give me more and more challenging tasks.
I think that’s something that many people are scared of today, because the more responsibility you take, the bigger rewards you can have basically, because it’s also about that more and more responsibility because you become responsible for more people, they become responsible for more business areas.
And if you fail once, then it can be on the Yeah, it can become a path down always.
