Meet Marc Reifenrath. As the CEO & Co-founder at Spinutech, he shares the story of scaling to 150+ team members and fostering a company culture that attracts A-players from diverse backgrounds.
Marc Reifenrath is the CEO & Co-founder of Spinutech, a full-service digital marketing agency with 150+ team members across the U.S. In that capacity, he understands firsthand how critical a company’s culture is to achieving and maintaining success.
Marc has helped Spinutech grow from a college start-up to one of the premier full-service digital marketing agencies in the country. The secret ingredient? Company values that are truly lived, including a commitment to “Get Better Every Day”. Marc would be the first to tell you that Spinutech would not be what it is today without a team of people who are as invested in each other’s growth and success as they are in delivering the best for their clients.
Spinutech has been named a Google Premier Partner and certified as a Google Marketing Platform Partner, achievements only an elite group of agencies can tout. This means Google recognizes their experience and they are accountable to specific performance standards and advanced, transparent reporting.
Random but notable: In January 2015, Marc met and introduced Barack Obama at an event while he was sitting president.
Outside of growing his team and working with clients, Marc enjoys family time, golfing, and traveling — in that order.

In the digital space, you can fail fast and leaders use the story in the data to make informed decisions. However, many experience a high churn rate and are oblivious to an easily accessible advantage to get ahead: the people they choose to hire are the ones who determine whether they succeed or not. The diversity of backgrounds and experience among your team is crucial to gaining an edge.
On your podcast, Marc can talk about how he views people as a competitive advantage and share how Spinutech made it through the first 10 years with zero turnover and still has four of the first five team members on staff! He can explain how Spinutech’s team culture held turnover to less than 5%. Even with a recent company merger and the Great Resignation, they are still way ahead of the industry average of 20%. Now, he wants to share the lessons he’s learned.
Marc loves marketing, loves to sell, and enjoys helping other people sell. His passion started when he sold cell phones in college. Although he didn’t realize it, Marc was leading people even in high school, as he found it easier to lead than to follow. His experiences of picking up on small skills and details, learning from failures, and applying lessons resulted in joining with two friends to start Spinutech as a resume-builder – then growing it into a full-service web development and digital marketing agency.
On your podcast, Marc can talk about his 22-year journey from entrepreneur to CEO and explain why hiring the right way is paramount to business success and growing team culture. Specifically: Why should you apply a filter when hiring and ask yourself first, “Is this best for the team?” And if the answer is yes, then ask, “Is this best for the business?” The balance serves both sides. Marc also can explain what “Get Better 24” means, and why Spinutech invests time for every team member to grow and improve each week.
Business leaders all have the same tools to use, but do they know how to use them? When something positive happens, an intentional business leader tries to tie it to core values. When something negative happens, they try to address it right away – and often that’s the best opportunity to grow. But change is hard. Are business leaders willing to challenge their beliefs, especially when doing so can positively impact their customers and team members?
On your podcast, Marc will uncover how Spinutech defines core values (such as “We Get Better Every Day”), reinforces them, and uses them to attract the A-players and disqualify those who are culturally misaligned and therefore unfit to join the team. Specifically, he’ll talk about why you can’t fake core values and why they need to come from within, plus the reason leadership has to bet 100% on those values and lead by example in order to attract people aligned with them.
Most companies have no process designed for bringing on new team members – it’s a baptism by fire. Company cultures become watered down because employees and leaders aren’t willing to receive feedback or give it. Leaders struggle to build loyalty and understand if their team is all in…or just in it for the paycheck. They want team members to defend the company’s core values and protect its culture, but how do they ensure this happens?
On your podcast, Marc can talk about why the first 100 days after a new employee joins your company are critical for injecting culture DNA and core values. He can share why he spends an hour with every new team member to discuss his company’s culture and values, and why building loyalty is crucial to creating defenders of that culture.
