What Your Audience Could Learn
10 Brain Commandments: How to look after your mental health.

Over the years, Dan has discovered a system that focuses on 10 different areas in life. Each area represents a crucial piece that has a direct impact on mental health. These areas are: Nutrition & Hydration, Sleep, Sound, Breathing, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion, Tribe, Mental Health Diet, Movement, and Nature. Dan will explain how to systematically focus on each of these areas without feeling overwhelmed or giving up.

This system has also helped Dan become an expert at starting small, with just one thing, and stacking them bit by bit to build towards success. This topic is valuable mainly for listeners interested in applicable science-backed strategies they can use immediately, especially in the current climate of lockdown and restrictions.

What is "Braincare"?

We all know that we should spend time exercising and eat the right food. But why do the majority of people still fail to do that? It starts with your brain. Dan is an expert on using science to build habits, cultivating a positive mindset & nutrition for optimizing his brain’s health. He can help your listeners to understand that what they consume (mentally) directly translates to their everyday actions – both positive and negative.

For Dan, this resulted in building multiple successful businesses (and failing some too) along the way. He can share real stories of overcoming failure, burnout, anxiety, depression and insomnia – and the importance of diet, supplementation, creating micro habits and understanding consciousness.

Entrepreneurship, leaders and mental health.

Many companies need to put mental health at the top of the agenda. Dan can talk about how any business from SMEs to corporates can integrate different initiatives to support their employees’ mental well-being. Dan believes that we need to get companies and founders to commit to doing more and speaking more openly about mental health.

In specific, that means implementing mental health support, sick day policies including mental health, therapies, health care plans or how to access publicly available mental health support (usually unknown to people).

Overcoming mental health challenges.

Dan has overcome, and learned to talk openly about his depression, anxiety, insomnia, bulimia, burnout, and imposter syndrome, and how those experiences led to his interest in creating a new category of “Braincare” (see the topic #2) that he believes is largely ignored – particularly the importance of nutrition and mental health.

On your podcast, he can share actionable tips for people who are currently facing different mental health challenges and how to force through the initial resistance and skepticism of making a necessary change.

How 6-months of insomnia led to developing a "Braincare" product

After his period of 6 month-long insomnia, a dietitian recommended Dan to consume high-quality supplements. Despite his skepticism, he tried them, and when they worked he became fascinated by the topic. He started researching science papers and turning them into plain English for a more consumer-friendly audience. 120 weekly newsletters later, he developed his own company Heights, with Co-Founder Joel Freeman and Chief Science Officer, world-leading Neuroscientist, Dr. Tara Swart to educate, inspire and nourish people’s brains so they can fulfill their potential.

On your podcast, he will share the lessons from his journey, as well as what he’s learned from researching and “translating” all this mental-health knowledge.
